Drink water instead of sweetened beverages (yes, even diet beverages) and add more veggies to your plate.

Two separate studies have found interesting links between sweetened beverages and vegetable consumption. In the first study, researchers found that children ate more vegetables when they were served water with the veggies instead of sweetened beverages. The second study found that food and drink pairings are developed preferences; we learn them. As a result, when people drink soda (or other sweetened beverages), they tend to crave calorie dense foods.

You can set the odds in your favor by setting the table with water instead of soda. Not only will drinking water help you make healthier food choices, it will also save you empty calories.
