1. Weekly Wellness Tip

Drink 8 cups of water per day this week. Water is essential for optimal health. Healthy hydration status is important for transporting nutrients, removing wastes, digestive processes and brain function. Ideally you should sip a 1/2 cup every 1/2 hour throughout the day; your body will absorb the water more efficiently this way. If drinking this much water is new to you, you may feel like you’re running to the bathroom a lot. Don’t worry, your body will get used to it and your bathroom trips will become less frequent. If you find yourself waking up at night to use the bathroom, make sure you get your water in by 5 pm so it does not disrupt your sleep — drink 4 cups of water by noon and the last 4 cups by 5 pm. Start doing this consistently and you will feel the difference that good hydration can make.

2. In the News

Fast food may be linked to severe allergic reactions in kids. We all know that fast food isn’t good for us. Over consumption can lead to chronic health problems such as obesity, cardiovascular disease and obesity down the road. But it may also have an impact on the development of severe allergies in children. This is concerning because the incidence of allergic disorders seems to be increasing. The study found that kids who eat fast food three or more times a week were more likely to experience asthma, eczema and hay fever. The study also found that fruit seemed to decrease the incidence and severity of the allergic reactions. Read the full article here: Fast Food Tied to Asthma, Eczema and Hay Fever in Kids.

3. At the Market
