Spring break is looming on the horizon. Here are three quick tips for those of you traveling.

1. BYOS
Bring your own snacks! You know what is balanced. You know what you enjoy and what works for your body. Don’t put yourself at the mercy of airport or gas station food. Make a snack pack full of good-for-you foods for travel days. Save your splurges for what really matters.

2. Keep Moving
A relaxing vacation can still include physical activity. It just looks different. Instead of chugging away on the elliptical while it’s blizzarding outside, imagine how nice it would be to take a jog along the beach. Walk as much as you can — walking is a great way to slow down and enjoy all the things your destination site has to offer. You’ll experience and see a lot more than you would driving and your body will be happy. Many hotels and resorts have very nice boutique fitness centers. Check out what yours has to offer. Also check the activities calendar. Sand volleyball and sunrise yoga on the beach? Sign me up!

3. Make sure to enjoy the local tastes but stay balanced while doing it.
If you know you are going to be eating out for a decadent dinner, start your day off right with a balanced smoothie. Many resorts will have blenders but you can also pack your own — the magic bullet works great! No fridge for smoothie ingredients? No problem — pack single servings of shelf stable almond milk, nano greens, bananas and protein powder. It’s hard to enjoy vacation when you’re feeling bloated in your bikini, so try to stick to your normal routine as much as possible.
