Creamsicles have to be one of my top favorite desserts. So, I was pumped when I found this recipe on Elana’s Pantry. It is really great — has a very good sweet creamy flavor. You’d never know there was a green leafy vegetable hiding in there. This would make a great breakfast smoothie or a tasty 2nd lunch.

Kale Creamsicle Smoothie
1 cup kale, chopped (this turned out to be about 2 large leaves for me)
1 whole orange, peeled and chopped
1/4 cup water
1 scoop of protein powder
1 cup ice cubes

  1. In a blender combine the kale, orange and water and puree until smooth.
  2. Blend in the protein powder, then the ice cubes. Enjoy!

Don’t bother de-stemming the kale. It will all get blended up and you won’t even know the stems are in there anyways.

I used Jay Rob Vanilla Whey Protein Powder, which we sell at the Natural Path Health Center along with several other kinds of protein powder.
