We work with a lot of people that are trying to improve their health in some way. Sometimes when we are attempting to change our lives to become healthier we become very boring and negative people, usually because we focus on all the things we can’t have (gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, etc.). We restrict every aspect of our lives and we sneer at those around us who don’t hold themselves to our new “standard” of health.

This is no way to live.

I want to encourage you to celebrate life. This includes reasonable celebrations with family and friends for the holidays, birthdays, and other special occasions. These occasions not only allow for healthy social interactions, they can also help you feel more in touch with yourself and the yearly cycles. This isn’t a license to overindulge for a month between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, but it is a reflection on the fact that a healthy life should be regularly interrupted with celebration.

Rejoice in the person you are trying to become, get connected with your appreciation and gratitude for all you have and all those that have blessed your life and enjoy your time here on Earth.

Make the choices that help you move closer to your goals 80+% of the time and thoroughly enjoy those special celebrations with those you love.
